Hello! It’s Kimberly yet again.

Today I’ll be taking you down the history lane of the great achievers and legends of soccer, who were once an inspiration to Ronaldo, Messi and other Heroes of today’s soccer.

Let me say here that there were times Ronaldo, Messi and other soccer legends of today, sit to watch and aspired to be like the legends of yesterday. With determination they are today’s Heroes and others are aspiring to be like them, even the Heroes of yesterday are watching and nodding their heads, saying “WHEN MEN WERE BOYS, WE USED TO PLAY LIKE THIS”.

Do you remember Pele?

This great legendary of soccer can never be forgotten. His talented play styles still remain fresh in the minds of today’s soccer professionals.

He was from Brazil and played soccer with Santos. He is a national Hero.

Pele scored a total of 1281 goals in just 1363 games and was hailed as a goal scoring machine and of course, the King of Football. He was the only player to win 3 World Cups, of which one was won in 1970.

What about Diego Maradona?

Remember him?

He was famous for scoring the Hand of God goal against England. He was from Argentina. He’s very good at dribbling, sprinting and accelerating.

During a world cup match they played against England, he took the ball from midfield, dribbled through the center and scored a very surprising goal, nicknamed ‘The Hand of God’.

This great legend won the world cup with Argentina in 1986. I believe Ronaldo used to watch him as others are watching him today.

In that tournament, he was the best player and equally won the golden boot. Diego scored 34 goals in 91 matches for Argentina and in clubs; he scored 258 goals in 492 matches, having played for 6 clubs.

Cruyff

Cruyff was a wonderful midfielder who played for Dutch and scored 33 goals in 42 matches. He’s won Ballon d’Or 3 times, and has scored a total of 291 goals in 520 matches. He won league title in Holland and in Spain.

Yet another legend of soccer who retired is Franz Beckenbauer.

Franz

This hero was nicknamed, The Emperor. He was very versatile in playing, strong and skillful. Franz has won the world cup as a player in 1974 and as a coach in 1990.

Moreover, this legend won European cups 3 times consecutively, in 1974, 1975 and in 1976. He won Ballon d’Or 2 times, which is often rare for a defender to win.

What about Michel Platini?

Michel

Platini was a midfielder for France, well-known for vision, passing and free kicks.

If you can remember, back then in 1984, Platini scored a total of 9 goals in the European Championships, and has totally scored 224 goals in 432 matches.

Platini has won Ballon d’Or 3 times.

Michel

Like I said, these great legends once played like Ronaldo, Messi and other legends of today, but in the process of time, they retired from active sports. Today I believe as they sit to watch the legends of today, the used to say, “THAT’S HOW WE USED TO PLAY WHEN MEN WERE BOYS!”

You’re free to mention any of the heroes who retired from active sports and talk about his achievements.

Once again I laud the efforts of this great achievers. Today's stars would someday be watching the upcoming stars, just as these ones are doing now.

If you're so passionate about becoming a star, apply the right principles; learn from others.
