At the beginning of September, the Blues will face Sweden and Croatia in the framework of the League of Nations. Didier Deschamps has announced the list of 23 players who will be lined up.
It's back to school for Didier Deschamps' men. The French football team is back in service and will play its first matches, following the interruptions caused by the health crisis. First cross on the calendar: next Saturday September 5, the Blues will face Sweden at 8:45 p.m., in Solna, as part of the Nations League. Subsequently, Tuesday September 8, the French will face the Croats, at the Stade de France at 8:45 p.m.: the last time the two teams met was during the final of the FIFA World Cup in 2018. Both matches will be played behind closed doors.
For these two meetings, Didier Deschamps recalled Adrien Rabiot, who now plays as a midfielder at Juventus in Turin. He had been absent from the group for more than two years. Rabiot's summons is a surprise. The player, then at Paris SG, had publicly refused his status as a reservist for the 2018 World Cup. Deschamps also dismissed world champion Blaise Matuidi, who joined Inter Miami this summer.
Other new features: Lyonnais Houssem Aouar, Rennais Camavinga and Dayot Upamecano, defender of Leipzig. All three will sign their first scoresheet with the Blues. Camavinga thus comes to replace Paul Pogba (Manchester United) who tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Blues are expected Monday at their Clairefontaine training center, for a rally under high health vigilance.
