After failing to win at home in the two previous occasions, United was in pressure this time to deliver in front of the fans. United knew that they will go to top four with the win after Arsenal shared a point against Spurs in the early kick-off. But again, United went down in the first half and looked like another failure. But in the second half, they came overcame the first half lead and waited till the 88th minute for the victory. At the 88th minute, Lukaku got the winner. It was his second goal of the day. In the stunning game, Andreas Pereira brought United to level for the first half deficit.

With almost everyone injured upfront, Solskjaer somehow managed to find the front three of Rashford, Lukaku, and Sanchez. Andreas Pereira, Scott McTominay, and Paul Pogba started at the mid. Unfortunately, Sanchez suffered a knee injury and was replaced by Dalot in the 52nd minute and Solskjaer was forced to play with front two of Rashford and Lukaku with Dalot playing as a wing back with three at the back. But this change of formation also was the turnaround in the match as United went on to score 3 goals and secure 3 points.

United started with the purpose and kept Southampton in pressure. Within the first five minutes, United already had three good chances, two of them fall to Lukaku but Agnus Gunn denied. Later in the half, Southampton started to pressure United and United was lucky not to concede the penalty after Smalling pulled the shirt of the opponent. Eventually, Southampton had their goal in the 26th minute of the match, when Yann Varley picked the ball from outside the box and blasted it fiercely into the goal. It came as surprise for de Gea and he could do nothing about it but just get a hand to it. United worked hard for the equalizer but failed and the first half ended for a 1-0 lead for Southampton.

After the start of the second half, United was lucky again not to concede the penalty. This time, Young clipped Bertrand in the box but referee declined the penalty. Then, Sanchez went down due to a knee injury and was replaced by Dalot. It didn't take a long time for Dalot to make an impact. First, his cross after brilliant dribbling found Rashford but he headed wide. Then he assisted Andreas Pereira for a goal in the 53rd minute. But it was more of a personal brilliance from Pereira. Pereira curled from the 25 yards into the top corner for a goal and Gunn was helpless about it.

United was on lead after five minutes. Pereira was involved again, this time he assisted Lukaku to take United to the lead. But Southampton still was not in the mood to give up and kept pressuring United. In the 75th minute, Young conceded a free kick in a dangerous position outside of the box. In-form James Ward-Prowse stepped up and he bent the ball over the wall, de Gea could do nothing about it to bring Southampton on a level.

With the time ticking, it looked like another frustrating draw for United but they didn't give up. Lukaku struck the winner with 2 minutes left in the clock. Fred who came on for Pereira was involved in the goal. Fred flicked the ball to Lukaku who turn around to get away from a defender and struck brilliantly to the corner of the net. Lukaku was full on confidence when he took this goal like in the previous season. It is his fourth goal in the last 2 matches. United still had a chance to score the fourth after Rashford war fouled in the box. But Pogba's penalty was saved by Gunn to break the heart of many Fantasy Football Managers including me to deny Pogba's goal and an assist for Rashford.

With the win, United now goes to the fourth with 58 points. United is just 3 points clear of the third-placed Spurs and 1 point ahead of Arsenal. United don't have plenty of time to celebrate as they will travel to Paris to face PSG and hope to overcome a 2-0 deficit. It looks unlikely with so many injuries but it will be great to see United fighting back against PSG. Then, they had Arsenal in the PL next week.
