It definitely has been a very successful season for the Portuguese defender both individually and with his team. In just his first year at Man City since joining from Benfica in December, Dias has won two individual honours. The first was the Football Writers' Association men's player of the year award for last month and now he has been named the Premier League Player of the Season.

Dias beat off big names like Tottenham's Harry Kane, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, fellow teammates Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden to claim the prize.

It goes without saying that he has had a great debut season at Man City. Since immediately breaking into the starting lineup after being signed, he instantly got accustomed to the somewhat tough English style and proved his superiority in the center back position alongside John Stones. This paid off as he helped his side to a second successive EPL trophy as well as well as the Uefa Champions League finals.

Ruben Dias also made it into the Man City dominated EPL team of the season, being paired alongside his teammate John Stones in the center back positions and having both João Cancelo and Luke Shaw in the right and left fullback positions respectively. The midfield consisted of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan (also from Man City) with Bruno Fernandes of Man United completing the trio. In attack, Liverpool got represented by Mohammed Salah on the right wing and the ever impressive Heung Min Son on the left. Finally, Harry Kane completed the forward position after being the highest goal scorer in the league.

Quite a season it has been for Manchester City who have continued to dominate English football.
