I’ve been to Brazil 2014.
When we landed in Sao Paolo with my friend, we were like children in Disneyland. We’ve been to Fan zone to see the first opening match, that was played by Brazil. Wonderful moment, launched by the Brazilian anthem. Lots of Croatian, Brazil won 3 – 1, Neymar scored 2 times. The show was open !
We then saw different matches, discovered littles bars, live music, dance on the good sound of Brazilian singers, spoke with many supporters all around the world. We literally were living the world cup.
Then we flew to Iguazu, to enjoy the huge waterfalls and see Toucans ! These animals look like stuffed animals We were so close. Amazing. We put one feet in Argentina and tasted local meat. Absolutely delicious.
Our travel brought us then to Salvador De Bahia ! We were hosted in Pelourino, district of fiesta, colored houses, mix of cultures, where was born Capoeira. There, we saw France versus Switzerland in Arena Fonte Nova, an epic game where France won 5 – 2. It was like we were at home. The match was played lately in the afternoon. The sky was purple, I had the face plenty of colored make up, the ambiance was electric. I lost my voice for three days. I can tell you : it worth it. Salvador De Bahia was celebrating San Joao : three big scenes in the middle of the city, around the place where we were sleeping, playing Brazilian popular music, all night long. We literally were living Brazil.
Our trip finally took place in Rio De Janeiro. Corcovado, Pao de Azucar, delicious Japanese food (yes !), Copacabana, music, sun, beach and two matches inside Maracana : France versus Honduras and another one. I already been to Parc des Princes to see PSG, Camp Nou to see FC Barcelona, Emirates to see Arsenal. I can tell you there is nothing like this eight final that I saw in this stadium : Colombia versus Uruguay. The sound, the ambiance, people were crazy. Nothing like this. I literally felt myself south-american.
I then saw France win versus Nigeria in the fan zone located on Copacabana beach. And my plane was later the same day. Then I saw Germany hit Brazil on TV. This was a sad day. I imagined the ambiance there. I litteraly lived the sadness. And was happy to be back at home.
Living a world cup is something very special. It is an intense human communion where sentiments and feelings are strongs. I recommend you to try, one day.
