Unbelievable: A triple pack by Dodi Lukebakio provides a surprising point win for the Fortunas at record champion FC Bayern Munich. The 3:3 score falls at the last minute.
Fortuna coach Friedhelm Funkel had to give up Kaan Ayhan for the team of coach Robert Kovac. The defence chief has been complaining about pain in the big toe of his right foot since his international trip with Turkey. Andre Hoffmann (concussion), Raphael Wolf (neck injury), Marcel Sobottka (patellar tendon irritation) and Diego Contento (rupture of the cruciate ligament) are also eliminated. Captain Oliver Fink celebrated his comeback after surviving Achilles tendon injury.
But the most striking figure was another: Dodi Lukebakio. The Belgian junior national player flashed his great quality several times, then his sometimes provocative casualness became his downfall. In the end, however, he more than made up for his mistake.
But one after the other: Lukebakio's story in the first run begins after 50 seconds. Unsorted Bavarians leave too much room for FC Watford's loan. The 21-year-old puts the ball on his strong left foot and only Manuel Neuers fingertips prevent the early surprise effect. Just a minute later it's Takashi Usami, who also comes to the end undisturbed. For newcomers, however, the unplaced ball is not a challenge. The Bavarians seem nervous and lack body tension.
But Fortuna helps the stumbling record master with several reckless actions. Kevin Stöger loses the ball in the build-up game, goalkeeper Michael Rensing shows unusual weaknesses when running out at the former employer. After all, it is Lukebakio who is the assistant to the Bayern leadership. After a corner, the striker simply hits the ball in the middle. Niklas Süle thanks him warmly and marks with the first shot on the Fortuna goal the 1:0 (17.). It fit into the picture of Lukebakio's performance, which shone with talent, but also with apparently lacking ambition after lost duels caused head shaking.
Only three minutes after the lead Fortuna's left defensive side did not give a good picture when neither Marcin Kaminski nor Niko Gießelmann prevented a pass from Jerome Boateng to Thomas Müller. The national player made Rensing look old and finished casually 2:0 (20.). It all looked like the Bavarians would now play their class and it would only be about the height of victory. But shortly before the break whistle Lukebakio made up for his mistake and made for more tension. Jean Zimmer prepared the 1:2 with a side puller rather involuntarily, Lukebakio executed ice cold from five meters. Much to the delight of the more than 7000 Düsseldorf fans, who sent their team with loud cheers into the cabin.
After the restart Fortuna had two half-cooked counter-opportunities to quietly hope for a point win, but after almost an hour of play the game again seemed pre-drawn: Robert Lewandowski defended the ball against Robin Bormuth with all his class and then put the equipment by hack on Müller, who finished dry to 3:1 (58.). Oliver Fink missed the next goal when he headed from seven meters beside the goal (66.). Lukebakio made it better, proved strong nerves in a solo run and put the ball confidently past Neuer to 2:3 in the goal (78th). The Fortuna was again and had now the momentum on her side. And Lukebakio provided with his renewed cold-bloodedness at the very last minute for irrepressible jubilation with the Fortuna fans. Nobody will forget this game so quickly.
