First and foremost, i will like to congratulates all Liverpool fans all over the world for lifting this year Super Cup trophy, it is not easy to play Chelsea in any cup final either the team is in form or not because we all witnessed what happened in Munich in 2012 against mighty Bayern Munich team and to Chelsea as well, i will like to congratulates them for pushing such an impressive performance because Liverpool never see that display coming from Chelsea and i think luck was a little bit nit on their side.
One amazing thing to note about this year edition is that the match was officiated by a female referee Stephanie Frappart who was the first female referee to official a men European competition, although this was not the first time she will be officiating men football, she has done that in the ligue 1 last season and it was such a big recognition from UEFA to trust her with the job at this stage of European competition with some female lines woman as well.
It was really a wonderful atmosphere in Istanbul where this year super cup final take place with many spectators on ground to support their teams, Chelsea was priced high in terms of odds for this match while many Liverpool fans were full of confidence that they are going to lift the trophy at the end. Although they finally did but it doesn't come in an easy way for them. Chelsea after loosing to Manchester United in their opening game in the league make some adjustment to their team with Kante, Pulisic and Giroud making the line up while Mount, Tammy and Barkley all started from the bench.
The game kicked off and Liverpool were first dominating the game and try to create some chances in the early minutes of the game but it was Chelsea that first had the chance to score from Pedro when his shot hits the crossbar, even though Chelsea were not that strong at the back, they still try to hold the likes of Salah and Mane because these players didn't offer much in the first half. Chelsea after winning the midfield with the help of Ngolo Kante continue to play good passes before they got their first goal through Giroud in the 36 minutes after receiving a wonderful assist from Pulisic and that was the only difference between both side before the half time.
Liverpool manager klopp made an early substitution at the beginning of the second half when Firmino came in for Chamberlin who didn't have any impart in the first half and the Brazilian man did not spend much time before making impact in the game. Chelsea failed to deal with the ball before Firmino force the ball to Mane who finally converted it into the back of the net in the 48 minutes. The goal seems like a wake up call for Liverpool but Chelsea never loose hope as they continue to enjoy their game.
Lampard made some changes in the second half when he removed Pulisic for Mount, Tammy for Giroud and Barkley for Kovacic in the midfield but Chelsea failed to convert many of their chances even though there are two offsides goal that was cancelled out by the referee before the 90 minutes and the game went straight into the extra time, Mane Completed his brace in the 95 minutes of extra time before Tammy won a penalty for Chelsea that was later converted by Jorginho 101 minutes and that took the game to a penalty shootout after playing 2-2 at the end of the 120 minutes.

Even though Chelsea lost the match, the young players really show they are ready for the battle in the league with Pulisic looking promising for Chelsea and Mount continues to show why the manager has decided to keep him in the team. Chelsea will now face Leicester City next in their league campaign and it is really going to be interesting with the hope of getting their fist win at home.
