It is a disappointing afternoon for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard as he continue to await his first win at the bridge despite the fact that Chelsea were leading the game 2-0 in the first half through Tammy Abraham but the two goals is not really enough for the team to secure the maximum points as Sheffield United pull a great come back in the match to change the scoreline to 2-2 in the second half of the game.
Chelsea is still battling with some of the players that would have provided solution to the problem facing the team in their defense line and probably in the midfield. Currently now, the team is allergic to clean sheet. Lampard who made some changes to the team in the back line by replacing Christensen with Tomori look like he will continues to search for the solution until Rudiger returns to the team probably after the international break.
The atmosphere at stamford bridge was really a great one as the fans continues to show their support for the legend who return to the club as a manager, the team started the game with a good performance and continues to play a direct ball upfront to Tammy Abraham since the Sheffield formation did allow not allow much ay in the midfield and it finally work out in the 19 minutes of the game when Azpilicueta deliver a cross into the box of Sheffied and Abraham fire it into the net after Dean Henderson made a little error and that makes it his first goal for the club at the bridge. Chelsea after the goal still look comfortable and continue to dominate the game with lot of passes through Jorginho and Kovacic in the midfield. Mount didn't have much to offer in the game as sheffied were so organised in the midfield.
Sheffield united had the chance to level the game in the 39 minutes through Robinson header but went to goal kick and Tammy Abraham doubled his lead in the 43 minutes when Jorginho play a through ball over the sheffield united defenders which they failed to deal with and Abraham pounce in his second goal before the break.
The looks like a win for the blues as they resume action for the second half but the blades seems to have go back to their drawing board to see how to penetrate them in the back and the finally got it right not too long in the second half as the continue to use Azpilicueta position to attack in the game. Stevens crosses the ball to Robinson who guided it well into the net to make it 2-1. Sheffield continue to show more good play and the blues manager had to make some changes in the team as Willian came in to replace Barkley but that didn't provide the solution to the way the blades attack the team down the flank. Lampard made another two changes by introducing Batshuayi and 18 years old Gilmour which many people believes was a wrong substitution. Sheffield finally equalize the game in the 89 minutes when Zouma mistakenly deflected the ball to the net.
The blues will now wait until some players like Rudiger, Reece, Hudson fully returns to the line up.
