As far as the word “versatile” goes, one man is currently making waves in the English National League, due to his exploits on the field of play this weekend.

Being versatile in any sport is something that makes a player stand out remarkably, but then to become three different persons in a short time; and in one football match, is simply sensational.

And sensational is exactly what Will Evans did yesterday as his Chesterfield side took on Ebbsfleet in their weekend National league game fixture.

If you ever know a player who is phenomenal, well, I bet you that such a player will still have to travel a mighty long way to eclipse Will Evans’ performance and sacrifice for his team yesterday.

The 27-year old English football player scored an equalizing goal for his Chesterfield team 5 minutes into stoppage time, to completely overturn a 3 goal lead on its head.

It was indeed a fairytale night for Will Evans who is naturally a defender. But yet showed that being a defender shouldn’t stop your ambitions of being a striker…..lolz, at least that is what his performance in the game showed.

Ebbsfleet had shot themselves to a 3 goal lead in the game, through goals from Michael Cheek, Cody McDonald and Bagasan Graham.

With the game seemingly out of reach of the home side, first-half substitute Tom Denton and forward Marc-Antoine Fortune scored to initiate a likely comeback.

With Chesterfield struggling upfront to tuck in the 3rd goal for the equalizer, Will Evans found his way forward and deftly headed in the much needed equalizer for his team in the 95th minute.

Also, why stop at being a Defender and a Striker, right? Why not go one better, and even become a Goalkeeper.

And indeed there was still time for more drama to unfold in the game; as Will Evans eventually had to step in for his red-carded goalkeeper who had brought down Ebbsfleet’s Michael Cheek in the box.

Heck! Will Evans did all three of the above (be a defender, striker and goalkeeper) in a match that helped his struggling Chesterfield side save a point; which by all ramifications they truly deserved.

His task as the makeshift goalie was laden with the pressure of trying to stop the opposition forward, Cheek, from scoring from the spot.

But good gracious; Will Evans stepped up and heroically saved the penalty to earn his side a point from the game.

The game is still being touted as one of the sensational games of the current English National League season – thanks to the heroics of one man, Will Evans (A striker, A Defender and A Goalkeeper – all in one).
