Two best player of our generation, who shared last 10 Ballon d'Or between them are both out of World Cup on the same day. This two genius of football inspired many people to follow football. They have won everything in their life time in club level but couldn't win World Cup for their country.
Messi, leading Argentina struggled in group stage and was lucky to make it to last 16. Many expected to see improved performance from Argentina today, but the same old problem failed Argentina- their defense. France was brilliant today and won game 4-3. Mbappe managed to score twice in span of 5 minutes to kill the game which was 2-2 during that time. Griezman and Pavard added other two goals for France. For Argentina, Di Maria, Mercado and Aguero scored a goal each.
On the other game, Portuguese team suffered a loss against Uruguay. Cavani was brilliant today scoring twice for Uruguayan team. Cavani scored a goal in each half. Pepe scored for Portugal in 55th minute.
Messi is 31 and Ronaldo is 33 now, and will certainly not play in 2022 world cup. This was their last chance to win most prestigious honor for their country and they failed it. Ronaldo won Euro Championship for Portugal in 2016.
It is matter of time, both player will retire, and we will not be seeing two greatest player of our generation again in the world cup.
