SAFF Championship is the football tournament, where all the national team of SAAF countries participates. This year Bangladesh will host the 12th edition of SAAF Championship. Due to the Sponsorship reasons, it’s also knowns SAAF Suzuki Cup. This tournament will run from 4th to 15th September.

All games will be played on the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
Groups
Teams are divided into two groups. They are

Bangladesh
Bhutan
Nepal
Pakistan
Group B
India
Maldives
Srilanka
Top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinal of this tournament. The winner of each group will play against the runner of another group. The winning teams from both matches will meet in the final.
Defending team India is the strongest side in this tournament. They have won SAAF Championship seven times. Host nations Bangladesh, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka have won the tournament one time each. Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh haven’t won this tournament yet. Afghanistan won’t take part in this SAAF Championship.
South Asian countries are backward in Football. Right now India is doing very good in different tournaments, but other countries are struggling. India has invested a lot in football in a few years, they have already got some positive results. But other countries haven’t improved. It feels bad to South Asian countries struggling in Football.I hope this kind of more tournaments will get organized so that it helps in the development of football in South Asian Countries.
