Tremendous mid week as we witnessed clash of top time rivals and titans clashing in the the Carabao cup. Liverpool hosted Arsenal at Anfield while Manchester United visited Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to clear the air of whose going to make the next round of the cup.

Liverpool vs Arsenal 10 goals thriller.

Jurgen Klopp's line up was much different from his normal starters as he paved way for other to show and prove what they were made of on the pitch. Luckily for the players this was against one of the EPL big six. The likes of C.Keheller, H.Elliot, R.Brewster, S.Van den were on the starting XI while Chirivela and Jones were introduced later to the match.

Unai Emery seemed to be cheerful enough as he started the long awaited Mesut Ozil who had an impressive game and kept the midfield busy proving he is worth to be in every starting XI. Included to the starting XI were Martinez, Martinelli, Willock, Di Pascua. Tierney, Ceballos and Giendouzi were the substitutes for the game.

S.Mustafi saved an early grace for the host as his own goal generously puts them ahead in the early six minutes but Di Pascua was privileged to find the back of the net and leveled the scoreboard for Arsenal. G. Martinelli puts the visitors in front, soonest he scores another to double the lead 1-3. Things were falling apart for the Merseyside Reds but Milner kept the pressure low as the reduced the deficit with his penalty spot kick just before half time.

Maitland Niles added another for the Gunners nine minutes into the second half while Chamberlain was able to quickly react and scores for the host four minutes later from a lallana's assist. 3-4 on the score sheet as Divock Origi equals the match from a C.Jones assist. Willock became scores his first and fifth for Arsenal which looks like its a wrap but Origi again on the wheel this time provided a life grace opportunity for Liverpool to scale through to the last 8. His 90+4 goal extended the play to a penalty shootout where Ceballos sold Arsenal out in the fourth kick. Whist the hustle prevailed, Jurgen Klopp has Origi to thank for his bravery.

Though the coach has suggested that Liverpool could boycott the carabao cup and not play the quarterfinals unless the EFL could find an acceptable date amid their bust fixture list. The EFL seems wanting to schedule the carabao cup last eight on the week commencing December 16 and Liverpool will be unable to play as they travel to Qatar for their club world cup semi finals on December 18. Another spare mid week had to be found to accommodate the Reds as their EPL and UCL commitment have filled possible slots until the beginning of 2020. Its either their next opponent(Aston villa) scales thought to the semis or they allow Arsenal face them.

The last 3 teams to score 4+ goals vs Liverpool at Anfield are Arsenal, Arsenal, and Arsenal.

2007: Liverpool 3-6 Arsenal
2009: Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal
2019: Liverpool 5-5 Arsenal

This means Liverpool have conceded 5+ goals at Anfield for the first time since January 2007 and Arsenal are responsible for both!

Chelsea vs Manchester United: Brilliant Rashford brace saves a spot for the Red Devils in the quarter finals whilst the London Blues were dumped out.

Marcus Rashford took the spotlight from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after Marcos Alonso carelessly ran into Daniel James. Michu Batshuayi leveled the game for the host as he dashed past Maguire and Lindelof before sending a low shot past Romero from the outside box. As they kept building momentum, Rashy struck a sensational 30 yards free kick that swerved beyond helpless Willy Caballero. The young Englishman brace has seen Ole Gunnar's side seal a third away win in a row in all competition. The win also inflicted first defeat to Frank Lampard's side since their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in September 22.
