Lazio had a busy off-season this past summer, acquiring many new players for the club ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. However, out of the nine total signings, only one has rose to the occasion of being a starter in the lineup. This is 30-year old Italian Francesco Acerbi, who was purchased from Sassuolo for a fee of €10,00 million.

So far, this season, the central defender has played in every match for the Biancocelesti; that is, ten consecutive appearances, a total of 900 minutes played. In addition to this, continuing from his Neroverdi days, he has made 115 consecutive appearances at a club level in the Serie A TIM.

The current record for consecutive Serie A appearances lies with Inter legend Javier Zanetti, who, in his tenure with the Nerazzurri, made 137 consecutive league appearances (162 in total). If Francesco Acerbi were to play every match for Lazio this season, he will break Zanetti's record and, considering his reliability as the Biancocelesti's most consistent centre-back, this looks to be a real possibility.

A cancer survivor on two occasions, this is quite the feat for the player.
