Saying that games won in advance are the hardest to win approved again. Almost everyone saw Spurs win Norwich and Southampton before the game and in reality Tottenham grabbed just one point from Norwich game thanks to hawk eye of VAR which saw millimeter offside of Pukki. Evil tongues converted Spurs song about H. Kane "He's one of our own into "VAR's one of our own". I would say that with this defeat train for 4th place already left station for Spurs. This team has no quality to be into top 4 this season. Mid-table mediocrity is reality for this side this season in Premier League.
Only thing fans can hope is good run in FA Cup and in Champions League. FA Cup game round 3 will be on Sunday 05. January 2020 in Middlesbrough. It's going to be one of those games where everyone see Tottenham as easy winner again. I have bad news it's not going to be easy!
First look at the Championship table tells us that home side is at 16th place and we could think they are struggling in this league, but when we see recent form we can see that they have 4 wins 1 draw and 1 lose in last 6 games. They won Preston and W.B.A. away with 0:2 which means they know how to play against clubs which are better than them on paper. Spurs lost any right to under estimate anyone after infamous League Cup exit against Colchester earlier this season.
J. Woodgate's boys founded themselves in recent games and this game against Spurs will be probably the biggest game they are going to play this season. They will be well charged and motivated and will have advantage of home ground. On the other hand this will be must win and yet another boring travel and game for Spurs which will lack help of main striker H.Kane. He picked up hamstring injury in game against Southampton and will be out for 4-6 weeks. If Spurs win everyone will say "Big deal you won struggling Championship side", but if they lose everyone will point finger on them, laugh and make jokes. Looks like game where you can only lose if things go wrong.
And a lot of things can go wrong with Spurs this season from silly mistakes to stupid earned red cards. There is no player in defense for who I can tell is in form at the moment. From Alderweireld, Verthongen to Sanchez, Foyth, Rose or Aurier. They are all really bad. New thing is that things in attack stopped working too. H. Kane didn't receive any service against Southampton. Creating chances looks like rocket science and big problem for this squad. It seems like Dele's brother is in club again instead of Dele Alli.
Colchester, Brighton, Watford, Norwich, Southampton all those clubs looked very good against Spurs. Did Tottenham players forget how to play football, or are they not satisfied with something in club it is big question. My opinion is for some reason they have not real motivation to play football at the moment. You can see that when you just watch movement of players on the field. Lack of any pressure on the ball when only 1 player is running trying to get the ball, general lack of movement and opening for pass when they have ball are serious symptoms. They can't even exchange 3-4 simple passes. Way how they destroyed 4 on 3 counter attack against Southampton was really disturbing.
I really hope Dr. Jose Mourinho has cure for this sickness. Departure from FA Cup early in 3rd round would just add some salt on fans wounds. Middlesbrough is tough opponent, but not invincible. With right motivation Spurs should jump over that hurdle even without H. Kane. I think game will end with 1:3 for Spurs and that Alli and Lucas will be on scoreboard as goal scorers. COYS!
