In first game of Premier League this week we saw draw 1:1 between Fulham and Watford. In the first half Watford was better side. Early goal scored by Gray in 2. minute gave them wings. Fulham defence made a lot of mistakes, we saw plenty of chances for Watford and some nice savings by Fulham goalkeeper Batinelli. Fulham tried to make few counter attacks over Schürrle and Vietto. Schürrle showed good building of actions, while Vietto showed nice skill and was in one on one chance with B.Foster, but Watford goalkeeper saved his goal.
Second half brought us genious move by Jokanovic which was to substitute Mawson with Odoi. After that Fulham defence was better. Picture on field was entirely different. Fulham was in control of the ball, but without big chances until 78th minute. Then we saw some world class skill by Vietto. He tricked opponents in unforgettable way and managed to stay in control of the ball, run in the box and pass low ball in 5 meter where Mitrovic escaped from Watford defenders just enough to push the ball in the net.
After 1:1 Fulham tried to grab all 3 points but Mitrovic's good shoot was deflected in corner by Watford goalkeeper Foster. Closest to victory they were after corner in 90. minute when Mitrovic jumped high and made wonderful header but unfortunately for Fulham ball hit the post.
Impression after the game is that Fulham goalkeeper was excellent in this game.He made some very nice saves. Schürrle showed nice skill in building actions and in long ball passing, Mitrovic was constant danger, but in my opinion Vietto was the best. Way how he builds the ball, dribble and what he did before goal was real world class skill. On the other hand defenders made so many mistakes which we don't expect on this level of competition. Substitute at half time when Odoi came in the game stabilized Fulham defense. In following days Jokanovic will have big challenge to choose right players for defense.
