Antonio Conte is manager whose playing style depends highly on wing backs and if they don't play well entire team suffer. Trouble is Antonio came in Spurs in mid November and full backs on his disposal were bought during Jose and Nuno times. Only one of them who played wing back was Doherty. Rest of them Emerson Royal, Sessegnion and Regullion didn't as far as I know. Wing backs received most of critics during last season. They are not bad players but there is feeling something like end product is missing especially in Regullion and Emerson Royal. Don't get me wrong I think all of them are very good football players, they defend well, but struggle to have impact in attack.
It's natural that Conte wants excellent wing backs and would like to make change there. Fabio already made one move and brought Ivan Perisic in club. He is already in London doing medical tests. Player refused Chelsea and decided to join Spurs. He is 33 years old, but still very very serious player. Him and younger Sessegnon could be very good combination on left wing back position.Some people are saying he is to old, but if you looked champions league final you could see how Modric and Benzema both in serious years for football players run the show. There is no reason Dalmatinain from Split-Croatia could not play on top level for at least two more years.
Let's focus on right wing back right now. I've seen reports saying Tottenham is interested in player from Middlesboro on loan in Nottingham Djed Spence. I watched him in couple of occasions, he is ok player but I am not convinced he is top, right choice for attack on the title. I know Fabio Paratici must have hot list with right wing backs in his pocket, but for any case I will mention this name here - Ridle Baku!
I watched his skills and moves on youtube and was highly impressed. I wanted him after 2 minutes of watching. Lad is shooting with both legs, scoring from edge of the box, crossing like with hand, can defend do tackles, knows how to use his body in duel. I think he is everything you could want from wing back. With Romero guarding space behind him when he goes forward I think we don't need to be afraid... He also posses football intelligence can make defense breaking through ball. Wolfsburg player who is only 24 years old have contract until 2025 and his current price on transfermarkt is 20 million! I really hope he is on top of Fabio Paratici list for right wing backs! I felt this good after watching his video just like I was after watching Romero's last season which made me pick up him ahead of all other players people talked Tottenham could buy for that position. I am confident what is Romero in RCB that will be this Riddle Baku on RWB position! Go get him Fabio! COYS!
