This year, there were a few memorable moments for sports lovers in Nigeria which left the country quaking. Let's take a look at these moments
4. Super Falcons AWCON Victory
Many Nigerian football lovers have a lot of confidence in Super Falcons more than the Super Eagles. The reason behind this is because our women have never ceased to stop representing us well in both local and international tournaments. For the past two years, they have claimed the African Women Nations Cup two consecutive times and they still fought hard to retain the title this year, which was one of the most memorable moments for us in the year 2018
3. Anthony Joshua's Victory
It's said that success has many friends and this is applicable to Anthony Joshua's case . When Joshua's history was traced down to be of Nigerian origin, he gained a lot fans and followers from Nigeria
One of those most memorable moments for Nigerians this year was when Joshua defeated Joseph Parker in the heavyweight boxing fight at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on March 31. Everyone was happy and we celebrated his victory in a grand style.
2. Super Eagles' World Cup Jersey Launch
The Nigerian jersey for the Russia 2018 World Cup designed by Nike was one of the best Jerseys in the world Cup due to its unique design. The jerseys had increase in demand which made the price soar high. Unfortunately, many people could not afford to buy the jersey which gave birth to production of fake ones.
When the jersey was unveiled it became the talk of the town and the love many Nigerians had for our World Cup jersey is out of this world. In fact, to some people, the jersey is like winning the world Cup already 😁
- Super Eagles' 2-0 Win against Iceland
When we lost our first game against Croatia a lot of Nigerians' hearts were broken considering the high expectations we had towards the Super Eagles. We felt we had a slim chance of making it to the round of 16 and we braced up and contended with Iceland which ended in a 2-0 win that left the country quaking from celebration. The Eagles grabbed 3 points against Iceland which was scored by Ahmed Musa of CSKA Moscow
