It's a tragedy to hear about the demise of Papy Faty, former Bidvest Wits player who collapsed on the pitch during while playing for his football club side in Swaziland. He was a great player who helped his team secure a spot at the 2019 African Cup of Nations which will be holding in June
Papy has reportedly been suffering from heart disease yet failed to hang his boot despite being warned on several occasions by the doctor to steer clear off football for some time but he didn't failed to listen which later cost him his life.
Papy ended up collapsing on the pitch barely 15 minutes into the game for his club side, eSwatini club Malanti Chiefs yesterday. It was reported that Papy was rushed to the hospital for an emergency medicine attention where he was pronounced dead.
He was one of the players that led his country to the 2019 African Cup of Nations and his country is drawn in the same group with Super Eagles of Nigeria. Unfortunately, he won't be participating in the 2019 AFCON
What a great loss for Burundi
May his soul rest in perfect peace
