UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE STARTED OFF COMPETITIVE ON STAGE LEVEL.
Manchester United walked away with a win yesterday which quite remarkable as the team has been struggling lately to produce results especially in the premiere league so taking 3 points from a strong organised club like PSG is really remarkable. No matter what your form is when it's game day you just have to appear and do the best you can to earn all points and Manchester did even without three competitive Red Devils. If I said I expected Man Utd to win the game I would be lying, in fact it was obvious in my blog yesterday that I didn't see them beating PSG at Parc des Princes. I'm going to say Ole Gunnar Solskjær got a blessing in disguise, the absence of Maguire, Edison Cavani and Greenwood made it quite challenging for him that he had to tighten things up and use a formation that calls for a win at all cost. Five midfielders, centre attacking midfielders and three defenders (3-4-1-2), quite a good formation for a win if you work your way around it so well. Ole hasn't been so tactical or a good game planner for one yet since the premiere league season started but he started his champions better. Chelsea on the other hand managed to get a point in the play against Sevilla, it ended goalless at Stamford Bridge. It seemed to me like Chelsea has been working on a few areas of weakness and they're finding their way back into play, the Chelsea with a shaky defence and unstable goal keeper would have conceded a goal or a couple of those yesterday. I think Frank Lampard is really trying and he loves his job since many fans were starting to get frustrated with him, gradually he'll put the team to greatness again if he continues working on it. Mendy made some great saves otherwise Sevilla would have taken the lead early in the match(first half), they dominated possession, more passes, highly accurate and less fouls so it was clear they were more organised but Chelsea had a plan to block the opponents. Absolutely challenging game for Sevilla and Chelsea and great effort from both teams. Liverpool took the win today with an own goal from Ajax defender Tagliafico, he couldn't handle the pressure Mane pressed on the team therefore ended up making a mistake that cost them three points. Ajax is pretty competitive and throughout the entire second half you would think they could snatch a point especially in the last minutes of play. Liverpool has some really outstanding players but they seem to struggle a lot to secure a lead and maintain it to the last minute, and the score line is always one that would put them on the line. The defending champions are up to defend their title, with a 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. The champions league started off competitive and it can only get better, UEFA Europa league commences tomorrow, there's no better time to kick start off the league than this after a couple of days of Champions League.
