LA LIGA: FC Barcelona unveil new third kit with reports suggesting it is to be won only on Champions League nights
Spanish giants FC Barcelona have gone on to unveil their new kits for the 2021/2022 La Liga season. The kit remains a perfect representation of their historic White and Blue stripe jerseys. From the emanating videos and images, the new kit was modelled by a new signing and Netherlands star Memphis Depay. Depay would be hoping to aid Barcelona in securing at least a top-four spot, for the first time in decades without their talisman Lionel Messi. The reasons behind the red and blue stripes on the Barcelona Jersey In a statement released by the press in the Catalan city, the reason behind the zig-zag patterns on the Barcelona jersey is the representation of the journey of youngsters in Barcelona into becoming footballing greats. Secondly, the zig-zag patterns go on to show the symbol of how close Barcelona as a club is to the city where the club is founded. Jersey features the classic red and blue stripes that could be dated down to the early days of Barcelona. However, this time, the stripes have been designed into different shapes and sizes. More to that, in a statement released after the unveiling of the jerseys, it was stated that these shapes on the jerseys represent the five neighbourhoods in the Catalan state. These Cities include the Poble-sec, Raval, Poble Nou, Les Corts as well as Gracia. A large chunk of the popular cultural landmarks has also been incorporated in the jersey designs. Conclusion The Barcelona new kit is no doubt filled with lots of cultural heritage. It is indeed pleasing to see that clubs still take into consideration the cultures and heritages of the cities they are founded in. That being said, we can only hope that both the jerseys and their performances in the upcoming season bring joy to the fans. Article Writer ✏️ Ordu Daniel
