It has been 6 months since we had the last visit of our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor Ray Quintana. Now he is here again for 10 days to share with us more jiu jitsu knowledge and have a good time with all the Bocas Fight Gym team.

He had the great idea to take the jiu jitsu to the beach and connect with the nature while we train. Last Sunday most of us went with him to Bluff Beach, which is one of the most important beaches we have here in Bocas del Toro.

Here you can see the a video I put together of that day: Beach & Jiu Jitsu Video

I wrote about Bluff Beach in a recent post, you can read about here

The night before we were out to have a good time, but no matter what we were ready Sunday morning with our nogi gear, water, fruit snacks, and go to the beach.

@evecab, our lovely dog and myself were very excited that morning, although a bit tired from the previous night but we knew once we were there, that the energy would have to come back to us.

When we arrived, one of our teammates found a good stop to set up the combat area, he had to do a bit of leaf cleaning.

After a bit of stretching and warm up, our professor Ray shared with us a really good technique from half guard which consist in allowing the opponent to get the underhook and go for a darse submission attack that also allows you to pass the guard.

Once we drilled the technique a few times between us, we were ready for some beach rolling

1, 2, 3… Oooss!

Our dog also had some fun as usual:

After some rounds of fights and having sand all over our faces, it was time to and enjoy the sea:

We always train at the academy, obviously is more comfortable but even though we had to swallow a lot of sand during rolling, we all loved it and we will do this Jiu Jitsu Beach time more often.

I hope you liked what I have shared with you!

Keep training, never stop!

Thank you!
