UFC 243: Whittaker vs. Adesanya
- Robert Whittaker [Champ] vs Israel Adesanya - Adesanya |Decision|
Whittaker is definitely the more well-rounded fighter of the two. He is one of the most underrated champions in the nowadays UFC, because he rarely talks trash and he is definitely a martial-artist through and through from his character. The list of opposition he has beaten, the KO of Jacare and the wars with a prime Romero, that says a lot. Make no mistake, Adesanya is as a refined striker as they come. He might not have beaten the caliber of opposition that Whittaker has faced (Marvin Vettori gave him a pretty hard time, and if the out-of-prime Anderson, with all due respect stopped playing around and had more output it would have been a much closer match), but he has shown in his last fight against Gastelum, that he is improving his game day by day and that he has the heart and desire.
He is going to have the reach advantage over The Reaper, which Adesanya knows how to manage and use well. IF both the fighters are coming to this match being active (only Adesanya has been active recently), I would give the edge to Whittaker. But Whittaker's lay-off and all the injuries he suffered and the time-off is going to be the deciding factor in this match against Adesanya who has been on the top of his game recently. It's going to be a very difficult match to call, but I got Adesanya winning a close decision after 5 had fought rounds paving way for a rematch.
