Tire management is crucial in MotoGP races. Because, in general the selection of tires is very closely related to the motor setting.

This is what Ducati racer Andrea Dovizioso felt while undergoing an Austrian MotoGP race at the Red Bull Ring Circuit on Sunday (08/12/2018). The defending champion must hand over the main podium to his team mate Jorge Lorenzo. While Dovizioso was third.

Dovizioso then analyzed his appearance in the race which lasted 28 laps. He explained that the soft tires he used did not function optimally during the 11th race series.

Not only that, the Italian driver also suffered greatly because the speed of his motorbike was unable to catch up with Lorenzo's speed. Dovizioso also admitted that his teammates were very good at making changes and deserved to win the race.

"I tried to overtake Jorge, but I never succeeded. At the end of the race I experienced tire problems and I lost acceleration, especially on two bends. I also could not attack my teammates," complained Dovizioso as quoted by Sky Sport on Monday. (12/8/2018).

Although only ranked third, Dovizioso admitted that the results were quite positive. "Today is difficult, but this is another podium and that is an important point," he said.

"We should be able to do it better, but there are some positive ones," Dovizioso concluded.

Winning Tradition

Despite failing to climb the first podium, Ducati drivers still maintain the tradition of winning at the Red Bull Ring Circuit in the last three seasons. Andrea Iannone came out as the winner in 2016.

A year later, it was Dovizioso's turn to win. Now Lorenzo makes an outstanding contribution by being on the first podium.
