What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about Jimmy Butler and what's the latest about his free agency decision. Let's do this!
Jimmy Butler impressed the world in his stay with the Philadelphia 76ers helping them through a deep playoff run this past season. He brought his experience with the Philadelphia 76ers and help the young stars understand what it takes to win in the playoffs. According to reports, Butler declined his 19.8 million dollar player option to stay in Philadelphia for the 2019-2020 season. And he will enter the 2019 NBA Free Agency comes July first.
Jimmy Butler is looking for a contract that's likely to be the last Max deal of his career. The 29 years old, 4-time all-star is one of the best two-way players in the league. Many teams would surely offer him a great deal but the question is, where does he want to go? Los Angeles Lakers? Clippers? New York Knicks? There's a lot of big market teams that have lots of cap space and Butler would be thrilled joining a contender. And for the Sixers, they can't retain both Butler and Tobias Harris so they have to choose one if any of them still wants to continue to be a Sixers. They both want the money they deserve so I think Harris would eventually go to a team that can pay him a massive deal.
Jimmy will consider lots of options in Free agency. It was rumored that the Miami Heat wanted to sign him but they don't have enough cap space. They almost had none left. For this to work out, they have to move Hassan Whiteside which is unlikely to happen. Nobody wants Whiteside's huge contract. But according to Tim Reynolds, Jimmy Butler would certainly be happy to what Miami can offer.
There is no clear fact about Jimmy's intentions. Nobody knows where he wants to go and what is his priorities. With Anthony Davis landing in Los Angeles Lakers, maybe Butler would consider the Lakers strongly. Let's see where will Jimmy Butler end up this coming free agency.
