What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today, we will talk about the blockbuster trade between the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks! Let's begin!

The NBA trade deadline is coming and the NBA season is getting hotter as teams started to make moves so expect the next week to be full of excitement and shocking news prior the NBA trade deadline. Rumors are circling around the league everyday as the trade deadline approaches and we hear Anthony Davis trade rumors all around the world but nobody saw this one coming.

The Dallas Mavericks agreed to trade Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and a draft pick to the New York Knicks in exchange with Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke. With this trade, Dallas left a void in the point guard position and their only option is JJ Barea and Trey Burke who are both bench players. But despite that, we know that Luka Doncic can play that role and be their starting point guard in offense. Yes, I say only in offense because he will surely have a hard time guarding quicker guards so he should guard the 2 or the 3 and only play PG in offense.

This trade also leave the Knicks $74.6 million in cap space and will open up 2 slot to sign by 2 max contract players next summer. Boom! That was a great move by the Knicks but they should be more aggressive in convincing superstars to join the team or lead the team. They can have a chance to get their top priorities like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson or even Kawhi Leonard. There are so many big fish to catch in free agency next summer so the Knicks should do a better job in recruiting because other teams can do the same and acquire big time free agents.

This trade is also good for teams that are wanting to trade for Anthony Davis because recently AD was rumored to be open in joining the Knicks but because of this trade, the Knicks doesn't have any more asset to trade for AD so because of that, the Knicks are out of the conversation now. And that would leave the Lakers to be the favorites to land AD this season and the Celtics if the Pelicans hold on on AD until summer.

There are also rumors that the Knicks will buy out Jordan and the Lakers are interested in him so once he clear waivers, expect the Lakers to sign him for the remainder of the season. JaVale McGee has been terrific for the Lakers and he can do almost all the things that is needed from a good starting center but we all know that DeAndre Jordan can do that better than him.

One more thing I realized is that, the Knicks wanted to get their hands on the college sensation Zion Williamson who is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft. The Kristaps Porzingis trade will help them rebuild and increase their chance in landing Zion. Let's see how things goes on from here. It's getting hotter in the NBA and this is one of the most exciting periods in the regular season so stayed tune here in Scorum to see more news and blogs about the 2018-2019 season.

That is all for today folks! Thanks for reading and I appreciate you all for the support. I would love to hear your comments about this article so drop your comments now and let's have some basketball talk! :)
