After Carmelo Anthony's time in New York is over, Kristaps Porzingis is now the face of the franchise and their future. The Knicks didn't have much success in Carmelo Anthony's hands as they always fail to reach the NBA Finals. They had some great stint in the playoffs for some years but that didn't lasts. Porzingis has been developing well since he entered the league. In his rookie year, he averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in 72 games he played. In his second season, he only played 66 games and averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. And in last season, he averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks playing only 48 games after suffering an ACL injury.

The Knicks picked up some great rookies in the draft. They selected Kevin Knox at number 9 overall out of Kentucky. Knox had a successful college season in which he played heavy minutes and led the team to a 10-8 record where he averaged 15.9 points per game and the only threat from the three point line for their team. Knox is a promising young baller and he should be in the top 5 of the NBA draft. He's a 6-foot-9 wing who can shoot the ball outside and carries the ball like a guard. He's also very athletic and will surely have a great future ahead of him. Knox can start right away at the 3 or 4 position as Kristaps Porzingis is still recovering from his ACL injury.

The Knicks are loaded at the guard position. They have Frank Ntilikina, Emmanuel Mudiay and Trey Burke. When we talk about offense, Trey Burke is the superior among the three. He is the most offensively skilled guard among those three but the problem with him was his size. He's size can be a liability in defense and opponents might take advantage of it. Mudiay has an elite athleticism but theres nothing much except that. He never live up to the expectations about him. He did not developed as the player people expected of him. And for Frank Ntilikina, he's not that good enough because of his offense. Despite being the best defender among the three, there's nothing much about this kid in his rookie season. He's not a great shooter and he struggled making plays for his team. Not the ideal point guard you want for your team. It will be a hard pick of whom will they start at the point guard position.

There's no problem for New York at the shooting guard position as either Tim Hardaway Jr. or Courtney Lee can start at that position. Hardaway and Lee are both good shooters. They both can create their own shots and can be a catch and shoot player. Hardaway is an elite shooter who is a microwave. He can become hot in short period of time and get his shots going. And when he's hot, he can torture opponents with his three point shooting. He's also an athletic guy and I think he had a pretty similar game with JR Smith. Lee is a veteran who knows to position his self and was a fine shooter. There will be no problem for the Knicks for that position.

The problem for the center position of the New York Knicks is defense. Enes Kanter is one of the worse defensive centers in the league. They picked center Mitchell Robinson 36th overall who is a better defender than Kanter but not that good in offense. Kanter is good offensively but defense is the key. Mitchell is great defensively but his lack of offense can hurt the team especially when they needed to score in the post. It will be a hard rotation for the New York Knicks' roster and it may take a long time for them to figure out what's best for the team.

The Knicks are looking to make a run for the playoffs this upcoming season so they should know what's the best lineup for them before the regular season starts. And if they cannot make the playoffs this year, they should go full force in acquiring all-star point guard Kyrie Irving and all-star forward Jimmy Butler to secure their future.
