New starting quarterback and sophomore Dwayne Haskins Jr. made his debut on saturday for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The mammoth QB is listed as six foot three inches tall and 220 pounds.  Not only did he record five touchdowns but also Haskins managed to score on five of its first six possessions.

When all was said and done Haskins threw 22 for 30 (313 total yards) with a QBR (quarterback rating) of 95.7

The Oregon State Beavers quarterback also productive throwing 12 of 19 (169 total yards) and two touchdowns.

Ohio State running-back Mike Weber torched the Oregon State defense for 186 total yards on the ground with only 20 carries.  His average yards per carry was 9.3 yards.  Weber also scored 3 touchdowns.

Oregon State running-back Artavis Pierce did some 'lighting up' of his own.  He ran for 168 yards on 11 carries.  He averaged 15.3 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns on the Ohio State defense.

As a pundit of sports and in particular football, my conclusion is that Ohio State's defense has it's work cut out for them this year.  Ohio State is ranked as the #5 overall team in the nation and Oregon State isn't even ranked in the top 20.  Thirty-one points scored on any defense cannot be a day in which a DC (defensive coordinator) can celebrate.

Next up for the Ohio State is Rutgers University and next up for Oregon State is Southern Utah University.
