The history of sport is always alive, constantly evolving, always inclined towards change, innovation and modernity. There have been so many moments when the sport has changed, has seen a new side, seen unknown things. Here are some spectacular moments that have changed the sporting world, its history, its substance, its spirit!

1. TOMMIE SMITH: OLYMPICS BLACK POWER

1968, Mexico City, the Olympics serve Tommie Smith and John Carlos, first and third in the 200-meter race. To protest against racism, the duo choose the podium for their message, raising their gloved fist closed in black.

2. BARTALI AND COPPI PASS THE BOTTLE ON THE GALIBIER AT THE TOUR DE FRANCE, 1952

Tour de France 1952, Galibier pass, one of the most feared and inaccessible ascents. This historic photo, taken by Carlo Martini, is a symbol of all rivalries, and of the human greatness that sets them apart. Both Coppi and Bartali have always played on this photo, never revealing who was passing the bottle to the other.

3. MARADONA, LA MANO DE DIOS, 1986

Some destinies no one can change them. Quarter-finals of the World Cup Mexico '86, quarter-finals between England and Argentina, nations that only 4 years clashed in the Falklands War. At the Montreal Olympics in 1976, at the age of 14 Nadia Comaneci enchanted the world, becoming the first gymnast to receive the highest score on asymmetric parallels. The vote, after an astonishing performance, was delayed because the computers were programmed to register votes up to 9.99, the "10" was not absolutely foreseen. In place of the 10 was placed in the computer the 1.00 vote which was actually multiplied ten times.

5. LOU GEHRIG'S FAREWELL ADDRESS, 1939

6. THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOR ERIC ABIDAL, 2011

Two cases away from the diagnosis of a liver tumor, Eric Abidal, Barcelona full-back, returns to play a soccer game. Enter at the end of the game instead of Captain Charles Puyol, welcomed by an unforgettable ovation. He will win the Champions League and he will raise the cup instead of the captain, before raising it he is thrown into the sky by all his companions.

7. THE MEETING BETWEEN TYSON AND HOLYFIELD IN LAS VEGAS, 1997

Myke Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield, after the first fight in which Iron Mike was defeated, the revenge is played in Las Vegas. At the third round, however, the unthinkable happens, something never seen in a ring. Tyson loses his head and tears off part of Holyfield's ear with a bite. He is recalled but tries again shortly thereafter, he loses through disqualification and his boxer license is revoked for a year.

8. THE TRAGEDY OF SUPERGA IN WHICH GRANDE TORINO DISAPPEARED, 1949

On May 4, 1949, at 5.15 pm, the Fiat G.212 trimotor crashed into the support wall of the garden of the Basilica di Superga due to the fog. The great Turin, one of the strongest teams in the history of football, ended up at that moment. The world was shaken, at the funeral almost a million people took to the streets in Turin. The scudetto was assigned to the Turin table. The trauma was such that the following year the National team decided to go to the World Cup in Brazil with a three-week ship trip.

9. THE FIRST GREEN JACKET BY TIGER WOODS, 1997

10. THE IMPOSSIBLE PUNISHMENT OF ROBERTO CARLOS, 1997

Friendly match between France and Brazil, Roberto Carlos is in charge of pulling a penalty from thirty-five meters. Part of his classic run in small steps, he kicks, the trajectory of the ball goes completely out of the door mirror and then back in and beat Barthez. A shot that went against all the laws of physics and impressed the whole world.
