Ah, voting... So easy, yet so hard to master.

You come here, see a post that has a good title and think "Let's upvote that".

Then you go on with your day as usual. What can a simple upvote do anyway, right?

Not like a vote can do a big difference.

Well, unless you have some SP, then it does.

Let's see how it goes...

The problem arises...

You have over 1K SP and your upvote was worth 15$. So this article goes to the front page of Scorum. This, in itself, can have a big impact. Newbies and not-so-newbies come to the website, look the article and see a big vote. Most will think;

Oh this must be an important post, let's upvote it!

Then upvote after upvote after upvote the article makes it to the trending section.

Wait, trending?

Yes, trending. Was that what you wanted at the beginning when you upvoted that article?

Did you actually read it, analyzed a bit and made sure it wasn't a rip off of someone's else blog?
Did this 10 line article actually worth 250$? I see so much undervalued posts here, who will upvote them?
Did the title represent the text?
Was the post proof-read?

Oh come on, this is a free platform, let us be

Oh yes, I will let you be. That's not the point. I'm all for freedom, but freedom comes with a price. Flagging can be used as a tool to show disagreement with a post's reward. If people use their upvote right wrongfully, flags will start coming.

This is to balance the reward pool available to everyone.

Good upvote behavior = no flagging!

Wow, easy as that?

Tell me, my fellow friends, what is your point of view on this?
