This posts is just a little update on my Scorum Patronage initiative and my recent activities.
I have started Scorum Patronage last autumn, just a few weeks after I joined Scorum myself. I had bought my first Scorum Coins and I was thinking about a nice idea to bring the Scorum community together. So I came up with the notion of having a contest-like event which everybody here on Scorum can join, an event where all what is needed to join is to nominate some other Scorum user.
And of course I was rather thinking of users who haven't been so successful and who haven't gotten their big share of attention yet. I thought with a slowly growing amount of Scorum Power I could help those writers to get into the hot-section right away and hopefully and eventually find some new readers.
At the beginning this had worked quite nicely, I remember our first winner @fraste! A really talented writer with lots of interesting content, who unfortunately hasn't been around for quite a while now.
But many other beneficiaries are still with us, constantly taking on the big challenge of providing us with some informative posts about the exiting and thrilling world of sports. I do think my humble assistance might have done it's little share to encourage and motivate one or the other writer and helped them to get started.
I am always curious with whom the Scorum community is going to come up next. Some of the former nominees I had never heard of or read from before, so I also consider this initiative a nice chance to broaden my own horizon. I have no doubt that there are still some more undiscovered gems hidden here on Scorum, so let's get them out to make them shine!
Sure, not every choice was a real winner, I often couldn't use the intended 100% of my voting power. Mostly because of lack of quality or content, I always reserved myself the right to vote with less than 100% if I feel a certain post is not reaching the quality level most of us are aiming for here on Scorum.
But hey, fair enough, not everyone here is a professional writer and we are all learning and hopefully improving as well. I always try to keep an eye on the people who I had assisted so far to give them even more love after their personal week of Scorum Patronage has ended.
I really want to say thank you to everyone who has been supporting my humble initiative, whether it was by upvoting my post for higher visibility or by joining the nomination rounds.
And a special thank you goes out to users like @dexpartacus, who have followed my lead and started upvoting and supporting our weekly beneficiaries as well, but gave them an even bigger boost when they came out with their posts. It is great to see that this initiative may have brought some people here on Scorum together, who eventually have the same objective and attitude.
And I also very much appreciate all the warm words of I received, it really helped to stay focused and motivated. Sometimes even the strongest people need some words of encouragement, since as you know: No man is an island!
Unfortunately I am not able to spend as much time on Scorum as I initially have planned and hoped for. During my first few months here I was able to write some sports blogs on a quite permanent basis but due to family responsibilities I had to slow turn a lot and I mainly reduced my activities to running Scorum Patronage now. I hope to be able to write more at times, especially since my favorite football team UNION BERLIN is now in Bundesliga 1, for the first time ever. I hope I can share some of their stories with you here on Scorum.
In addition to running Scorum Patronage I have also started sponsoring some other projects here on Scorum, like @lawlees's Scorum fantasy league or @trcoach's tipping contest. I am still looking around to see whether I can find some more worthy initiatives which could be in need of some sponsoring
I am planning to be out of my comfort zone for a while, so from mid-August I might not be able to immediately react to everything here on Scorum, but I will surely make sure to keep things going. Scorum Patronage won't stop, but it could happen that I will be a little late sometimes, posting the announcements or upvoting our beneficiaries.
As I wrote before, I plan to run a Scorum Patronage round in any given week this year, hopefully there won't be any exception at all.
We are already in round 30 now and we are hitting the month of August this week. Still some way to go but I guess we can also be a little proud about what we have done so far. I am here for the long run and I am not planning to leave here anytime soon. I do know that many things are not as they were intended and we are still far away from celebrating Scorum as a huge success. But I am not here today to complain, rather to send out some more cheers to the community.
Somehow it happened that I am sitting now on quite a bunch of Scorum Coins which are almost all powered up. So please expect to have me around here for a while, I still do believe that things here on Scorum will eventually change to the better and we will see quite some surprising improvement. I can't tell when it will happen but hopefully we now have seen rock bottom and we will slowly but steadily move towards our dreams.
And please always keep in mind that Scorum Patronage can only survive because of your support, without people who care about other users we wouldn't go anywhere. I am still thinking about possible changes and adjustments of the rules, I might give it a huge overhaul in the near future, but I also want to keep things as easy and simple as possible.
I am always open to any suggestions or comments, but also to any kind of criticism, as long as we can exchange our opinions in a respectful way. Traffic is pretty low over there, but we surely are alive.
At the end I only want to mention one more thing. We might not always agree about the speed or direction of our next steps here on Scorum, but we are all sitting in the same boat. Let's act like a team and bring this boat into safer and richer waters together.
