I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms... in a short period of time that the betting exchange has been online I got hooked on it and now I'm in pain, waiting for betscorum to come back...
While we are waiting for the betting exchange to goes live again, here are some of the things the Sports Betting Community wants to do.
Our main priority at the SBC is to get the betting exchange up and running by providing both the liquidity and the incentive for the members of the Scorum community to use it to the fullest.
The 5000 SCR Promotion
As you already know the SBC is running a contest of sorts in order to encourage all of you to do some betting. Paul (@stimp1024) has provided 5000 SCR for that purpose and explained the rules in this post.
Do read it and keep an eye on his blog for the new updates.
The rules are in place in order to avoid the abuse and prevent the shady characters from taking the rewards from those that deserve it. All we want is for you to do some honest to God betting and you will qualify for the rewards.
We'll be monitoring and verifying the entries and if you want to end up on our shitlist do try to cheat, but if you want to take part in the contest, have some fun, and help us get the betting exchange up and running - go and join the SBC Disord server here.
At the bottom of the image on the left side you should see the #5000-scr-contest channel.
After joining the server and introducing yourself, leave the link to your scorum profile in that channel expressing your wish to register for the contest.
Since the betting exchange is down and there's no concrete timeline on when it will be back we will keep you updated on when the contest officially starts. I hope that betscorum will be back online again this week and that we will be able to run the 5k promo during December.
Liquidity
To be honest, I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of my bets that got matched and the odds I've managed to get. Especially when you consider that @vlad and @awd2 had decided to surprise us.
The launch has been a success, the SBC members were loving it, but the user interface of the classic sportsbook for a betting exchange did cause some confusion. Even yours truly got confused.
I can only imagine how non-bettors have felt when they saw no odds on offer and heard us talking about backing and laying...
One way to make it easier for the beginners to start using the betting exchange is for us to provide the liquidity in an organized fashion, at least for the major leagues and events, so when a new bettor logs in there's already markets there and bets ready to be matched.
We've got the funds (and accounts) for this purpose, but if you'd like to synchronize this activity with us you know where we hang out.
The Bots
Some of you are familiar with our Discord bot, the notorious McGee that we use to keep the track of the new posts as they are published by the bloggers we follow on scorum. The bot has some more tricks up its sleeve such as giving you the price of scr/btc/...
I've got a plan for a new bot that will stream in the real time the bets as they are placed on the betting exchange. We'll have a designated channel on our Discord server and you can monitor it and if something grabs your attention...
As you can see, there are many reasons for joining the SBC on Discord, but I did not mentioned the main reason to join - the members! A group of sports bettors talking, having live betting sessions,... join in, listen, learn, chat, and profit!
I'm rethinking my EFL Action series of posts... trying to find a way to engage users more and to get as many of them on the betting exchange having fun and winning scr... but for now, I have to wait for betscourm to come back to us. We miss it!
