For the second successive week, only one Premier League game was postponed due to Chelsea's involvement at the Club World Cup as their game against Arsenal could not hold. Congratulations to the Blues for emerging as the best team in the world. Tough to admit coming from the other side of London.
Of the six wins that were recorded from the remaining nine games that held, only two home teams in Everton and Newcastle recorded wins. For the latter, the win took them out of the relegation zone. What a turnaround it's been for the Magpies since the arrival of Eddie Howe and their impressive winter business.
Four teams won on the road and the pick of them was Wolves' victory over Tottenham as they condemned the North London side to their second successive home defeat in the league.
19 goals were scored across the nine centres, an average of 2.11 goals per game. Only the Brentford vs Crystal Palace game failed to produce a single goal as Manchester United also recorded their second successive 1-1 draw.
Here we go!
Manchester United 1-1 Southampton
Manchester United have scored 14 goals in 10 games under Ralf Ragnick, an average of 1.4 goals per game. This is their lowest return ever under any manager. Unwanted record.
The Reds have failed to win for the second straight game despite scoring first and leading at half time. The last time this happened to the Old Trafford giants was in December 1998. Flash.
Watford 0-2 Brighton
Brighton are the only team with the lowest loss rate on the road in the Premier League this season having lost just one of their 12 away games, winning four and drawing seven. Merchants.
Watford have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 17 Premier League games at home. Porous.
Brentford 0-0 Crystal Palace
This was the first clean sheet Brentford have kept since November, a run of 12 games without a shut out. It also coincides with their first game of avoiding a defeat in their last five league matches. Worrying.
Palace are winless in their last five league games and have managed to scrap just two wins in their last 13 league games, with five draws and six defeats. Nosediving.
Everton 3-0 Leeds United
This was Everton's biggest win margin in the Premier League since they beat West Brom 5-2 in November of 2020. Nostalgia.
Only Norwich City who have conceded 50 goals in the Premier League have shipped in more goals in the competition than Leeds United who have conceded 46. Public.
Norwich City 0-4 Manchester City
It was the 21st away league game that City have scored at least four goals since Pep Guardiola took charge. This is eight times above any other manager in that time. Ballistic.
The Canaries have conceded 50 league goals this campaign; the highest in the competition so far. Bags.
Tottenham 0-2 Wolves
For the second time this season, Spurs have lost three consecutive games, the first being under former manager, Nuno Espirito Santo. Streak.
The victory was Wolves' fourth consecutive win on the road this campaign; their longest run of such since April 1980. Travellers.
For three consecutive seasons since the 2018/2019 season, Raul Jimenez has scored in every league game he played at Tottenham. Hunter.
Newcastle 1-0 Aston Villa
The Magpies have won three consecutive Premier League games for the first time this season. The last time they managed this feat was in November 2018 under former manager Rafael Benitez. Revival.
They have also scored from three direct free kicks in their last three Premier League games, with two of those from Kieran Trippier and the other, Jonjo Shelvey, with the former being joint-highest in the league this season with Southampton's James Ward-Prowse. Takers.
While Trippier scored two goals in his 107 games for Tottenham, he has matched that number of goals already in just four games for Newcastle. New lease.
Burnley 0-1 Liverpool
Burnley are the only team to have won just one Premier League game this season in their 21 games so far, drawing 11 and losing nine. Disaster.
Liverpool have won their last five away games at Burnley. Only away against Crystal Palace have they won more (7). Visitors.
So far in 2022, Fabinho is Liverpool's highest goal scorer in all competitions with five goals in eight games. Resolution.
Leicester City 2-2 West Ham United
Since the start of 2022, Jarrod Bowen is the Premier League's highest goalscorer with five goals and only Mohammed Salah, (16 goals, 9 assists) has a direct hand in more Premier League goals than the West Ham attacker (7 goals 8 assists. Growing.
I'd love to know which you find most interesting and why. Let's catch up in the comment section.
