London - English football issues new rules regarding behavior on the green field which can lead to yellow cards. This new regulation is based on decisions taken by the Premier League, English Football League and FA.
The English Football Federation (FA) has set a new regulation ahead of the 2018/19 season related to accumulation of yellow cards.
The FA, which oversees Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup competitions, decides that the accumulation of yellow cards only applies according to competition.
Previous regulations require players who are accumulated yellow cards when the last match in the Premier League is absent in FA Cup or League Cup matches. This also applies to reverse situations.
"For the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Vase, the accumulation of cards will be specific to their competition. This will be in accordance with the prevailing Champions League and Europa League. When a player has accumulated two yellow cards, he has to miss the next game, "the official FA statement said.
"Card calculations will only be done until the quarter-finals in each competition. "Cards received in these competitions will not be included in the accumulated 5/10/15 count that applies in the league," the FA explained.
But this only applies to yellow cards, while the old rules still apply to red cards.
One interesting thing, the FA does not change related to the red card. "It should be noted that this regulation only applies to yellow cards. "For expulsion (red card), it's still not affected," said the FA's official statement again.
This decision is a bit of an advantage for the English League teams which are a lot of choices for players when the yellow card accumulation is only valid in each competition.
