ROME - AS Roma president James Pallotta joked that his team would bring Lionel Messi from Barcelona in the transfer market this time. This is in line with Juventus' success in landing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Why could pessimistic Roma Pallotta bring Messi, even though Juventus can land Ronaldo? Because, the release clause owned by Messi is far above Ronaldo. Currently, Messi's release clause is 700 million euros. Compare that with Ronaldo, who when released in Madrid only had a loose clause of 100 million euros.

If Rome forces to spend 700 million euros, they can violate the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules adopted by UEFA. Regardless, if there is no FFP rule, it is not impossible that the Giallorossi-nickname of Rome can bring Messi.

Because, Pallotta is a billionaire who has a company in the field of investment that is Raptor Group. If Messi could be brought to the Stadio Olimpico, would he play in the position where the 31-year-old footballer was under the conception of Eusebio di Francesco?

Since being appointed as coach of Rome at the beginning of last season, Di Francesco relies on a 4-3-3 pattern which can turn into a 4-2-3-1 pattern. In this pattern, Messi can operate in three positions at once.

First, Messi can act as a second striker, supporting the single attacker occupied by Edin Dzeko. Furthermore, Messi can serve as the right winger, a position he often occupies when starting his career as a footballer. Then, the last position is served as false nine or commonly called shadow attacker.
