Nasarawa United 0-0 Kano Pillars

Match Summary

Nasarawa United was being sandwiched between Akwa United and Plateau United away, which are placed 1st and 9th on Group B NPFL table, this game against Kano Pillars was a must win for the home side fellowing a 2-1 lose to Akwa United away from home on matchday 17 on Sunday at the Nest of Champions, which they took the lead inside the first quarter but couldn't hold unto the scoreline until the end of the game.

Nasarawa United has build their attacking force around Sanusi Ibrahim who's prowess has been on fire through out the season.

Nasarawa United last won Kano Pillars on the 27th August, 2017 and after a 3:0 defeat on the first leg I thought it was Nasarawa's turn to land a super uppercut on the chin of Kano Pillars and drag them off the 4th position as they both struggle for a playoff finish at the end of the season, but no no no they blew up their opportunity.

I don't believe there is too much to analyse here as both teams try to be so careful not to concede first thereby forcing the ball to played in the midfield.

A good number of goals was being expected from Nasarawa United after a 5:1 win in their last home game against El Kanemi Warriors on matchday 16.

Nasarawa United played very well for the most part of the game but were so wasteful at the finishing end. It all began at the 10th minute when Anas Yusuf came so close to give the Miners the lead thanks to a goal mouth scribble but his last efforts took the ball inches wide.

Nasarawa United lost series of goal scoring opportunities in the game but the boys really pull an impressive performance on the day.

The match ended in a draw as Kano Pillars defenders form a defensive wall that was too hard for the Miners' attackers.

Anas Yusuf has to apologise to the team after the game for not being able to convert his goal scoring opportunities.

Kano Pillars on the other end went home fulfilled as they hold unto their fourth (4th) position on the table with 28 points, two(2) point ahead of Nasarawa United in 5th place after 18 games.

Nasarawa United move to the next game against Plateau United for MD 19 fixtures as they continue to search for a win.
