It was one of those weekends that saw enough gnashing of teeth especially from bettors. A weekend witnessed Barcelona losing 3-1 to Levante, Real Madrid playing out a draw against Real betis, Bayern Munich humbled by Einthtract Frankfurt with a 5-1 drubbing, Paris Saint Germain losing to Dijon, Manchester United losing to Bournemouth and Arsenal drawing to Wolves.

Other giant teams managed to win their matches. Manchester City managed a 2-1 against Southampton, Liverpool and Chelsea won by the same score line. It was really a terrible weekend to behold.

Sometimes I wonder if weekends like this is planned and executed because it all happened as predicted by few bettors I know of. Bayern Munich received the most humiliation beyond imagination at the hands of a team which has been playing below par all season.

Real Madrid searched for goal and couldn’t find against Real Betis in front of their own crowd. The hustle was there, the struggle was there but it was just the end product that was lacking. I suppose Paris Saint Germain and the rest of the teams that lost by a margin must have found themselves in the same “Trial and Failure” situation.

We should be expecting a more convincing performance from these teams that disappointed their fans this weekend as they match into the Uefa Champions League midweek matches. Real Madrid especially has a statement to make following their unconvincing draw in which they failed to capitalize on Barcelona losing to Levante. They play Galatasaray this Wednesday and it is a must win match for them if they are to increase their chance of making it to the knockout stages.
