The ongoing champions league actions are back again and we have just witnessed the second matchday of the group stage. So far in this competition, we have seen some expected and unexpected results which prove once again why this champions league is such an exciting and unpredictable competition. Spurs who are coming from a narrow escape win against Southampton in the premier league last week, hosted the Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich for the first leg of their group stage actions for a chance to get back to winning ways and into a good position after their disappointing draw in their first group stage fixture. Another disappointing group stage outing for Spurs as they got annihilated against Bayern Munich on their own ground.

Spurs who made history after their incredible achievement in the champions league last season have been faced with a lot of expectations this season especially in this competition. they finished as the champions league runner up, losing narrowly against fellow premier league team Liverpool. However, things haven’t panned out great for them so far this season and the champions league has been pretty much a disappointing outing for them. Their opening day fixture saw them drop points and now they’ve just been obliterated by one of the competition's favourites at home.

Bayern Munich have been in good form recently and their last 3 games including the champions league have seen them claim maximum points. As usual in this competition, they are one of the strong favourites to win this season’s edition of the champions league and boy have they kicked off on a good start. Notwithstanding, this was a very tough fixture for them on paper prior to the game and was one of those fixtures where the results could have gone either way. However, it wasn’t the case at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they totally demolished Spurs to maintain their 100% success rate in the group stage this season.
