Coming up this Saturday is the FA cup 5th round as lots of exciting match actions will be taking place. The flying Man City who are coming from their ruthless and emphatic victory against Chelsea last weekend will be going up against Newport County who are currently 15th place in the league two table. This is basically a game of two opposite poles, as it could possibly be a case of one team trying to avoid annihilation rather than the result.
Newport County are not having a great season so far in the league two based on their current position but will be looking to do the unthinkable against one of the most inform sides in Europe at the moment.
Mancity are having a great season since from day one and are not relenting on their efforts to cap their great season with titles and trophies which makes this competition very important for them. They are already in the EFL cup final and will be looking to get to the end of the FA cup as well.
On paper, this is not even a debate, as City are clear favorites to win this game by a country mile even though they are playing away from home.
Newport County vs Man City
An exciting fixture that is probably between two teams that are in opposite direction in terms of strength and form.
For Newport County, they know this is going to be an extremely difficult game for them to get a positive result. Nevertheless, they are playing at home which will give the necessary confidence going into this game to enjoy themselves on the pitch. Getting a win in this game could really be a huge confidence booster for them going forward.
For Man City, they will be going into this game not only confident but also with the expectation of winning with a high goal margin. For them, they will probably rest a few players who played in their 6 nil annihilation over Chelsea. But notwithstanding, no matter the team selection, they are expected to get a comfortable win.
My Expectations In Terms Of Tactics and Gameplay
For Newport County, they will probably make use of a 4-5-1 formation. They are playing against Mancity which means that they will most definitely have less of the ball. They have not been great this season in terms of performance, so this fixture will be a huge huddle for them. They will probably go into the game to try to defend very deep without leaving any spaces behind and then counter-attacking whenever they get the opportunity. They will also be looking at hurting City through set pieces.
For Mancity, they will probably lineup in their usual 4-3-3 formation, maybe with different personnel. Pep will most likely rest some players, but notwithstanding, it will still be a strong lineup as they have a quality bench, except he decides to utilize the youth which is very much unlikely. This game should be an easy ride for them to play their football and have fun on the pitch. Nonetheless, even though they are the favorites to win the game, they know that they don’t need to be complacent and respect the opponent as we all know this is football and upsets are bound to happen.
My Prediction
For me, I think this will be a comfortable win with a high goal margin for City, as they will be too strong for Newport. Newport hasn’t been great so far which even makes it more of an easy decision to make when it comes to the prediction on paper, but nonetheless, we all know this is football and anything can happen like we have seen in the past.
