It was the second part of this week’s premier league matchday 32 actions with few other matches which took place as well. Chelsea who are keeping their optimism alive in their top 4 race, went against Cardiff who are battling in the relegation area, a game which ended in a controversial late win for Chelsea.

For Chelsea, it was a much-needed win in their top 4 race as they still stand a chance of achieving their biggest target this season. A lot of talking points came up after their controversial win against Cardiff, but the 3 points is all that matters to them at this point in time and not how it was gotten.

For Cardiff, it was a very disappointing result considering their performance and effort as they were very close to getting the deserved 3 points but was unfortunate to be on the unlucky side.

The radar has been on Sarri and Chelsea in most of their games this season and it wasn’t an exception in this fixture as well, to see how the team would react after their shocking loss to Everton before the international break. They have gotten the job done in a rather poor manner and abysmal performance but would be happy for the 3 points which is all that matters.

Brief Post-Match Analyses

It was an exciting atmosphere at Cardiff, with lots of fans buzzing with excitement after the boredom of the international break.

On paper, Chelsea were the favorites to get the job done away from home. As expected, Chelsea started in their usual 4-3-3 formation, while Cardiff lined up in their usual 4-2-3-1 formation.

The game started and Cardiff were surprisingly the livelier team while Chelsea were having a very poor game. Both teams didn’t weren’t really threatening in most part of the game except for the later stages of the match. Cardiff finally got their reward very early in the second half for playing better but unfortunate decisions cost them the game that would have been a dream result for them in their premier league survival battle.

Camarasa got the goal for Cardiff in the 46th minute, scoring from a difficult technique by firing a first-time shot from a fine pass from around the Chelsea box.

Azpilicueta the captain drew the game level in the 84th minute from a rather controversial goal to give hope to Chelsea to search for the winner.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek became the super-sub by scoring the winning goal in the first minute of extra time, to give Chelsea their second comeback win this season. Having had an immediate impact in the game, coming on as a substitute, he some inches free from his marker to head in a perfect cross from Willian give Chelsea the undeserved victory according to so many fans including some Blues fans.

It was a much-needed win and a crucial 3 points for Chelsea as their top 4 hopes remain alive and they keep fighting to achieve their major target this season.
