The Copa America has always been known to feature some of the skillful footballers on the planet. However, we are also aware that it is home to one of the most vibrant rivalries in the world of football. That rivalry is that of Brazil and Argentina. Throughout the years, they have battled to get the better over each other and although Brazil is by far the most successful, Argentina has also held their ground in this intriguing battle. Now, in the semifinals of this competition, they have the chance to revive that long rivalry and entertain the world with their flair. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is the penultimate game in the Copa America for these teams.
Brazil
Brazil has surely proved that they are not a one-man team. Without their main star, they have stolen the limelight from all other teams and have won comfortably in most matches that they have played. With Coutinho and Richardson leading the way, it has proved to be fruitful territory during this competition. Another thing which would spur them on is that they have finally gotten past their voodoo in the tournament. They had lost three times to Paraguay in the quarterfinals of this competition. However, they are true and look like favorites to win the competition. However, Argentina would surely have something to say about that.
Argentina
Argentina needs redemption and this is the only competition which would be able to grant them that redemption which they dearly sought. With their stars starting to age, it remains doubtful if they would be able to make it to the finals next time out. It is also a time to repay Lionel Messi for all the hard work which he has done. Until he wins an international trophy, he would surely never be put on the same pendulum as Diego Maradona. Such is the importance of coming in with a good result here. A win against Brazil would surely increase the confidence of this team. That may be all that is needed to secure a win against whoever they face in the finals. The form is another crucial part which would help both teams to get to where they want at the right time.
Argentina was surely not in the best of form when they got into the Copa America and they were also not in that form when they got into their group stages. A loss against Columbia was quick to point the flaws in their team, flaws in which Brazil would hope to exploit when the game kicks off this morning. While this may be true, Brazil has also had its own share of problems. While not outrightly playing bad, they have struggled in some games in this competition. Paraguay took them all the way to penalties even though it can be argued that Paraguay was their weak link.
Brazil and Argentina are two of the most iconic teams in the history of football. We are surely in for a classic when this match kicks off.
