The leagues in Europe are on break after a few intense weeks of battling for titles, survival and so many more goals and ambitions. This has given the international countries to play against each other in their various tournaments. One of such competitions would be the European Championship qualifiers. Thus, when England takes on the Czech Republic, it promises to be an entertaining fixture as most teams would be looking forward to claiming victory on the night.

England

After their exploits in the world cup, England has only gone from strength to strength. With the world cup semifinals in the bag and making it to the last round of the nation’s league, they would slowly confident of their ability to make a difference in world football. England now faces two matches in quick succession. First, they battle the Czech Republic and then gradually Montenegro. However, they would be aware of the fact that injuries have left a toll in their team’s condition. Southgate would be hoping that they have enough talent to see off a Czech Republic team who would be desperate to win a game against the English man. They would be without Marcus Rashford who recently has injured his ankle. Other withdrawals have also shortened his potential to win things up the matches that they are to play.

Czech Republic

The Czechs are currently ranked at 44th in the world. Under their new coach Jaroslav who took over the reins in September. They would be hoping to make certain improvements from their previous matches and would also want to keep the form that they have gotten since their appointment of their new coach. However, this would be hard to achieve as England poses a greater threat than most teams that they have played with so far.

Form and History

The two teams have a history among themselves as this would not be the first time that they are meeting or playing against each other. They have previously met each other twice in their history. England has not lost a match to them winning one of those matches and drawing the remaining one. However, England would take confidence from the fact that they have lost one match away in their home stadium since Southgate took charge. That match was played against Spain which they lost 2-1. They would also need to be afraid of Harry Kane who has scored 15 goals in the last 17 appearances that he has made for England.

The Czech Republic would be banking on their defensive capabilities which has seen them win their last two games by 1-0. They would be hoping that they can pull off another great win when they meet the English in their home stadium, Wembley Stadium. It is also worth remembering that England is unbeaten in their last 18 qualifier matches that have been played.

Surely this match would be tasking for the Czechs and England are worthy favorites. It remains to be seen how it would all turn out at the end of the day.
