The qualifiers for the European tournament is truly intriguing and is on its way. as expected, the bigger teams in Europe have taken firm control over the qualifiers and they all look set to book their place in the tournament. The so-called smaller teams are having to exert greater effort to make sure that they are still in the mix when the time calls for the final lap. This is the situation which Faroe Island find themselves at this point in time. the qualifiers have proven to be a tough one to crack and they would have to win their encounter. They face Spain.

Faroe Islands

Faroe Islands would see the qualifiers as their big opportunity heading into the qualifying round in Europe. However, the group has not started out the way they would have liked. They are six teams in Group F where they are. They are currently rock bottom having failed to take even a single match from the earlier matches which they have played. However, it is just two games into the group and they would surely feel their chances of getting some points to draw them back into contention would surely be likely. However, they might be unable to find any respite against the leaders of their group Spain

Spain

Spain has done well to bounce back from earlier performances. When their coach Lopetegui was sacked, things went downhill from that point on. However, it does seem now that they are right back on track in terms of the progress which they have made in the qualifiers. Currently ranked first in their group with a total of 6 points, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if they are confident of their abilities moving forward. Playing against a team like Faroe Islands would require a lot of patience and focus. It is very easy to become complacent against what would be a lesser side. However, it is clear that the Spanish team would not be taking anything for granted.

Form

The form which Faroe Islands are currently in would not inspire much confidence. Having not won a game in their last six, the chances of gaining a victory here would surely look slim on paper. However, football by its very nature can be described as unpredictable. Faroe Islands would be hopeful that the odds are very much in their favor when they face Spain. However, Spain's form would leave them a bit worried.

Spain has been in better form and would likely use this to gain momentum in this game. Having played a total of six matches in recent weeks, they have won four games in the last six matches. However, during this period, they have lost twice. The greatest boost though is that they are currently on a three-match streak. That streak would no likely be extended if they should claim a win against Faroe Island.

Where friendly games would be a time to unwind, the qualifiers are certainly much more crucial and would no doubt be taken seriously.
