Since i went to my first game at "Marakana".Red star fans were always singing "Da se vrate dani, slavni dani nase proslosti!".Translated that means may the old days of glory come back.In recent days,fans sing it still, but in a very different mood.They think that those days are finally back...
I promised to write an article about the game against Liverpool, but long story short, police let about 300 home fans at the end of the first half and i was one of them, also I had not had much time to write since than.
Most important is that Red Star won 2:0.Pavkov, who scored 2 goals, became a living legend in Serbia.People went so crazy after the game, they were celebrating few days after the game.Some fans were singing all night long to Pavkov in front of his apartment.One little street on Zlatibor(mountain in Serbia)got name in honor to Pavkov.
Very few people from Europe knew about Red Star before this win, and even less people knew about how big Red Star was in the european football in past century.That is why people here were so happy after this win.Younger generation(in which I am included) have listened to the older fans for whole life about those "days of our glory" , and for the first time we can finally feel how it is to beat some big club in Europe.On the other side older fans have that feeling again after so many years.
To be honest, Red Star did won, but we had luck that Liverpool was not so good either.Also, probably we will lose next two games against Napoli and PSG, but you never know...
People in Serbia(not just Serbia,but all Serbs, that is another political topic that i will not write about here) are not happy with just this win, they want more.They want to be like big clubs and to compete for the title.I think that is not real for like next 10 years for sure, but i like in which direction club is heading to.Last year we played round 16 of Europa League and lost unfortunately,this year we have 4 points in UCL "group of death"(maybe we will have a few more).
Red Star must win one game at least to make it trough.I think we have our chance in the last game against PSG at home.We haven't lost home since October 2017.In that last game when we lost, Giroud scored magnificent goal in 85th minute and one of our players got red card unfairly 10 minutes before the goal.But I will be happy with this 4 points, cause lets be real no one expected us to have even 1.
