Last weekend will remain in the history of Chelsea as the most bloodiest day in top flight football to have conceded 6 goals against an opponent without put one goal pass them. The aftermat fuss of the match has come and gone with many lessons learnt from both players and coach.
After the defeat against City, Sarri had a meeting with some of his senior players to look at what went wrong in that match of which there have been no disclosure of what was discussed. But their 3:3 draw two days later with the academic team calls for concern about the squad in general and what the players think of him.
May be this was the major reason he had to drop Marcus Alonso from traveling to Sweden as a result of the numerous calls and criticisms he has gotten from both pundit and his players that the Spanish international was among the reason the teams has been on a poor run but in an interview before he left London, Sarri debunk such rumors as mere speculation citing his reason to give Marcus some time to recover physically.
Chelsea to win
Chelsea will have to put aside their humiliating 6:0 lose against Manchester city last weekend to get a good result in their UEFA Europa league against a Swedish side Malmo in one of the knock out stages of the UEFA Europa league competition. It will be a big opportunity for them to tell their fan how much they are committed to the club. Even though, Chelsea is expected to blow pass the Swedish side. They must do that will a great winning margin at least to boost their moral against their up coming match against Manchester United in an FA cup fifth round encounter.
Another opportunity for young players
Malmo side is not push over when it comes to Europa football as they are yet to lose any home match in the competition in front of their home fans in their last eight home matches. This must be at the back of Sarri's mind not to under rate the Swiss side by putting up a strong squad to face Malmo.
Anything less than a convincing winning will go further to cast doubt on the ability of Sarri to deliver on taking Chelsea to top for finish. Mean while, news have it that formal Chelsea player and Derby County head coach Frank Lampard may be on the line to take over from Sarri if things does not improve in coming weeks. I will love to see Sarri stay at the club and implement his style of play but that must not be without delivering on a short term basis as well. In the next 24 hours, the world will get to see how Chelsea will respond to the recent performance.
