The third season of Manchester United under their former manager Jose Mourinho almost mere their season and were psychologically condemned to 6th position trailing the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal respectively. During this period, an average Manchester United fan had concluded that nothing new will come out of the current campaign season unless something urgent is done and boom!, they got it Jose Mourinho was sacked after battling with his dressing room and in particular, Paul Pogba.

The sacking of Jose Mourinho brought in a fresh air not only to the dressing room but the entire club and fans alike. The hiring of red former player Solskjar on interim bases saw a revolutionised Manchester United team playing absolutely different pattern of football as against the defensive philosophy pattern of Jose to an aggressive attacking team. This was what the players yearned for and they got it.

Since then, Manchester united had gone on to win their 6th consecutive matches; the last being their 0-1 victory against Tottenham last week. This had seen united accumulated 18 points to draw level with Arsenal but remain separated with goal difference. The top of the table as well has witnessed some slips here and there which has made it possible for Manchester United to close the gap and are now contenders for the top four finishing.

Pogba; new face of Manchester United

The man in the middle of the controversies that saw Jose path ways with Manchester United has really lived up to expectation as the interim manager build the team around him. Pogba has gone on to be the man of the man on several occasions in this 6 winning streak. Pogba has 7 goals to his name and 7 assist. He has brought back that charisma he is known for and looks very happy now.

It is how ever funny that despite this amazing good run of forms that Manchester still finds themselves in the same possible on the log. Yes, gap has been close but the position still remains the same. At the end of the season and there is no difference between where United could have finish under Jose and now, the can we say united really achieved much.

In coming months we will shall see how far Manchester United go with their form not to slip again out of the reach of the top four positions. Their major challenge will be how they square it up with the big boys as this is the only way out for them to finish strong.
