According to reports in England, Goodison Park hosts Everton have joined in the race to sign Barcelona winger Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho made a 144 million euros move from Liverpool to FC Barcelona. Although being an integral part of the Liverpool side, Coutinho has still failed to hit the heights at Camp Nou.
Current clubs interested in Coutinho
Despite his far from impressive three year outing with Barcelona, a handful of teams in England are still interested in the Brazilian's services.
Tottenham and Newcastle were first in line. However, Rafa Benitez's Everton side are the latest to express interest in Philippe Coutinho.
Barcelona's stand
From the look of things, it seems that Coutinho is still not in the plans of new Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez. Hence, Barcelona would be desperate to get his huge wage demands off their backs.
Moving forward, Xavi Hernandez has expressed in no uncertain terms the fact that he desires to make some additions to the current team at Camp Nou. Yet, additions can only be made if some names exit. In other to keep the salary structure within the limit.
For Everton, they have already made the first move towards Coutinho's signature by contacting the midfielder's representatives.
Conclusion
With the news making the rounds, it seems Everton are the ones taking the opportunity to sign Coutinho much more serious than other English sides.
And unless we see a late drama, Coutinho may be headed for Goodison Park.
