Hello everyone! Welcome to another sport educating post from @Oxygen02. Today, I will be relating philosophy with sport, yes! You heard me right.
Countless of time i have been hearing people saying this word "god of soccer." Even me most of the time i found myself using it,. In most cases, when we are so passionate and emotional about the team we support, we always found ourselves using it.
While I said i with be relating it to with Philosophy is because i really want to know if there is another being our there in charge of soccer, who determines who win and lose a match. By doing this, I l will be engaging everyone in critical reflection and analysis because philosophy i s a body of knowledge that deals with critical thinking.
Is There A Being Out There In Charge Of Soccer?
As a way of philosophizing, that is by questioning, if you ask me that is there a being out there in charge of soccer that determines who win a match and lose a match? I will tell you No. Don't quote me wrong. I strongly believe God exist but i don't really think we have a special god for soccer.
By deep reflection, i will be using Naturalism School of Thought to explain this better. To the Naturalist, everything is explained in terms of natural causes and laws. That is, naturally, some team are born to win while some team are born to lose no matter how strong the team may be. No wonder in most cases, team with 30 odds will come and surprises everyone by beating team with 1.02 odds.
The first time I will be hearing someone using the phrase " god of soccer " happens to be in a match where a team is awarded a penalty in the late minutes of 93 and all the fans were very happy because the match was going to end nil nil and before you know it, the captain of the team just hit the ball high over the post and I heard the die hard fan saying omg! God of soccer why?
I could remember myself using it also in a champions league final between Chelsea and Manchester united when John Terry lost the penalty which will have earn Chelsea there first champions league trophy. Does that really mean god of soccer is not supporting Chelsea in this encounter? I strongly disagree. It is naturally born to happen.
In one of ibrahimovic interview, he said he's not the type that thank heaven whenever he score goal, he says and i quote;
Does it mean God love me more than the goal keeper? No.
Can we say God didn't love those keepers who concede goals? No, I support ibrahimovic in this opinion.
I hope you really find this post interesting and educating, until then, I remain my humble self @Oxygen02.
Thanks for reading.
