Manipulation of the competition

I am no fan of the current transfer window. That's an understatement. I still think it should be there, but it should be a mini version of the summer transfer window. Not like it is currently organised. Like it is now, it is possible in theory to switch the entire squad of Manchester City and Manchester United, as long there is money on the table, there is no problem. That's just half way the season? Why should something like that be possible? The way it is organised right now only benefits the clubs with money at the bank.

How it should be done?

I think it should be possible to be transferred or do a signing in January, but only for the right reasons. I'll give a few examples:

  • When a club is suffering a big injury wave
  • If a player hasn't played more than 5 games for his club in the ongoing season
  • When a club is fighting for relegation ( with limitations )
  • When a club has financial problems
  • ...

This list is not complete and is just an example. And also, I think there should be a limit to the number of transfers made in and out in January. I would set the limit at 3 transfers in and 3 out. This way a club still make a decent quality injection to their squad, if things aren't going as planned. The biggest problem for me is, transfers between clubs in the same league. It think it should not be allowed mid season. It is just a manipulation of the competition. In between different leagues, no problem, but a top club buying up the star players of the revelation of the league to weaken the opponent and strengthen themselves would not be possible any more.

Let me know your opinion on this, comments, objections, etc...

Sincerely,
