THE 2018 UEFA SUPER CUP WINNERS BELOW

The UEFA super cup winners 2018. (Standard.co.UK)

It was no shock that Atletico Madrid won the super cup over their town rival Real Madrid. I was honestly rooting for them because I believed they've faced enough defeat from from the whites on two European finals occasion both in the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2013/14 & 2015/16 where the Atletico side lost in the extra time and on penalties respectively after both matches ended in a 1-1 full time draw.

How much did the Galacticos miss CR7 in this finals?

There's no doubt that the Real side played well and dominated possession but missed vital goals from Asensio, Marcelo, Bale on different occasions. The former talisman CR7 was not just around to convert the chances.

Atletico Madrid played in prominent style showing off their defensive & attacking prowess as they utilized every opportunity towards the goalpost of the galacticos converting them into goals.

D.Costa goal came few seconds into the game as Diego Simeone made the sign off the cross up in the stands where he watched the game from serving touchline ban. Costa scored his first from a tight angle getting the ball past Navas after defeating Ramos and Varane earlier. Bezema's header kept both teams equal again. Ramos converted a penalty into a goal in the 2nd half giving Real Madrid the lead. Minutes later, D.Costa levelled both team. Full time ended a 2-2 draw and the extra time came in favour of the atletico as Saul scored the third from a volley giving the reds the lead. later on Koke placed the ball down the bottom of the net, securing the Super cup for Atletico Madrid with the fourth goal.

The defense were not calculating well. Every player was on the ball leaving their center defense open for the reds to work on. The two goals which occurred in the extra half came from the same angle. looking at the second goal Costa scored, the same error occurred from a different position.

On the 3rd goal, Sergio Ramos went on Thomas but Varane & Carvajal missed the point of filling his center gap which Sául had.

On the 4th goal, Thomas made the run which fooled Ramos as the left the center for the second time without back ups.

Now the real question is; did Real Madrid loose the game on the hint that former talisman CR7 & head coach ZINADINE ZIDANE left the team?

Is there a jinx on the team?

what can be done to avoid the down fall of the kingdom?

who will be Real Madrid's saviour?

What's real Madrid's fate?
