Tobby Alderweireld release clause expired on Thursday and a lot of Spurs fans hoped that player will stay at Tottenham with possible new contract offered by chairman D. Levy. I read that Tottenham policy is not to offer new contracts for players older than 30 years, but that they will make exception for Tobby on Poch request. However it seems that things are not going to well. Who knows what is going behind the hill. Recent press conference revealed something is not right.
Poch received question about present status of main pole in defense but instead of some answer he become angry with question. Football London journalist who follow Spurs said Poch changed face and looked at him like he just killed his entire family including his favorite grand dad. Moment later he said that he is not going to talk about any transfer news, new signings, contract renewals and anything about transfers. Poch said they should ask other club representatives who could inform them if they want and that he is focused only on managing and coaching things. Magician reveals that he can not answer because he does not know it and said something like transfers are job of some extra terrestrials which did not update him about news and maybe did not consult him about anything. Thing that no one asks him anything regarding transfers is for big concern because manager should be man who should say final word about what kind of players and on which positions he need. I just can't believe it is happening without coach knowledge in Spurs.
It will probably be other thing like he is not satisfied with something and does not want to come to press with it just now. That is for big concern too. Why is he not satisfied ? Maybe because of Alderweireld situation, maybe because just one player signed (Ndombele) while others (Lo Celso and Sessegnon) are still somewhere close, but not in squad. Rumors are saying Tottenham is into Juventus Argentinian player Paulo Dybala, Carol and even in Real Madrid golfer G. Bale. Mr. Levy signed new shirt sponsorship deal with AIA company in China and received some serious money which he would like to use to strengthen squad. Is it really possible that he is doing that without consultation with Poch ? I don't think so.
Something what I think is happening is that Levy offered something to Alderweireld and that he refused it. I think that is root of nervousness. Also departure of wide backs like Trippier and Rose and not buying replacement just increase it. I read articles like Foyth can play right back, some other young lad can play left, but what Spurs need there are two world class wide backs better than Rose and Trippier not some average or bellow average not experienced players with questionable impact in attacks. Poch drew that clear to Mr. Levy in Juventus game and redrew it with stronger colors against Manchester United. With transfer window closing in few weeks it is understandable why he is unhappy at the moment.
Maybe this is just to make some pressure on Levy to do right things faster.
